Have you ever wondered what the world’s most expensive perfume is?
I’ve been searching the web for the most expensive perfume. It didn’t took me long since my searches all leads to one product and that is Clive Christian No.1 which is sold by a selected group of retailers, including Harrods in London and Bergdorf Goodman in New York. Only 1,000 bottles of the men's version and 1,000 bottles of the female version are released each year.
For a one-ounce bottle of Clive Christian No. 1 cost $2,350 and it’s yours to keep. Still not convinced that it is the most expensive perfume? Well, Get the limited-edition 500ml Baccarat crystal bottle – with an 18ct-gold, diamond-adorned collar – only ten of which have been produced, five were released for sale and five were put in Clive Christian's personal archive. Yours for $215,000.
What makes Clive Christian No. 1 perfume so expensive?
Clive Christian No. 1 is indeed expensive, due to the fine, rare, and downright exotic ingredients it contains. It uses only the best ingredients there is regardless of rarity or price. As some of the ingredients used are increasingly rare, the perfume bought this year may not even be possible to produce next year as one of the ingredients may no longer exist. The two most expensive perfume ingredients are natural aged sandalwood from India and Tahitian vanilla.
These are the notes that are being used in the latest 2008 version
Top notes: Pineapple, plum, mirabelle, white peach
Middle notes: Rose, jasmine, ylang ylang, orris, carnation
Base notes: Vanilla, benjoin balm, tonka seeds, cedarwood
What makes Clive Christian No. 1 perfume even more expensive is its handmade or customized bottles. Elton John was reportedly paid around $250,000 for his customized piano-shaped bottle Clive Christian No. 1 perfume.
If you're a Millionaire, would you buy such expensive perfume?

First, you need to have a base (To learn more about base notes, please visit the topic about the Difference between Perfume and Cologne ). It can either be an alcohol or carrier oil. For best result, a combination of alcohol and carrier oil would be great. The best alcohol to use is an odorless alcohol. That is why I prefer using Vodka and mix it with Jojoba oil which is my carrier oil. Jojoba is quite expensive since it has a long shelf life, and once applied to skin and dries out it would leave a sweet soothing scent behind. This doesn’t limit you from using jojoba oil only. You could use other less expensive oils such as almond or apricot kernel oil.
Basic Instruction in making your Homemade Aromatherapy Perfume
1. Prepare you perfume bottle container. (Preferably dark glass bottle)
2. Measure 1teaspoon of your carrier oil (Jojoba, Almond, or Apricot kernel oil) and another 1teaspoon of alcohol (Vodka). Using a funnel pour these two ingredients in your bottle.
3. Add the essential oils from your chosen recipe listed below. You may need a dropper since not all essential oil bottles comes with a dropper. Once you have finished adding the last drop of essential oil, close the lid tightly and shake well.
4. Store it in a cool dark place. You need to store your mixture for 12 days or more before you have to use it. Try to remember to shake the bottle at least every 4 days.
5. After 12 days, you can now begin to enjoy the aromatherapy that you have made.

Homemade Aromatherapy Perfumes

Before I discuss to you how to make your own homemade Aromatherapy perfumes , let us first know some basic information about aromatherapy.
Let us start by defining Aromatherapy. What is Aromatherapy?
Here are some collective definitions of what Aromatherapy is:
"Aromatherapy is... the skilled and controlled use of essential oils for physical and emotional health and well being." Valerie Cooksley
“Aromatherapy is the practice of using volatile oils – known as essential oils - to promote psychological and physical well-being.
Aromatherapy is a caring, hands-on therapy which seeks to induce relaxation, to increase energy, to reduce the effects of stress and to restore lost balance to mind, body and soul." Robert Tisserand
"Aromatherapy can be defined as the controlled use of essential oils to maintain and promote physical, psychological, and spiritual wellbeing." Gabriel Mojay
For me, smelling essential oils is what aromatherapy is. The scents of these essential oils are picked up by the olfactory bulb (a zillion nerves in your brain) and within 20 seconds, every nerve in your body has delivered the message contained in the essential oil.
You might be wondering what this message is. Essential oils can support your body while it heals from physical and emotional conditions. The body does the healing, the oils do the supporting.
Essential oils seem to have many health-promoting uses: Disinfecting, reducing inflammation, increasing circulation, speeding the healing of wounds and burns, relieving headaches, reducing pain, and relieving congestion--to name just a few. They also improve mental function such as calming mind chatter, refreshing the mind, increasing concentration, and promoting inspiration.
Other interesting studies show that combination of oils have emotion-producing characteristics like increasing joy, promoting forgiveness, and creating harmony and hope.
What I have discussed so far was just a small fraction of a broad topic about aromatherapy. There's still a lot more to know, learn and explore about the wonders of Aromatherapy.
